Nadya Aubrey est une artiste multidisciplinaire originaire de l’Outaouais qui réside maintenant à Montréal où elle y a complété un baccalauréat en arts visuels et médiatiques à l’Université du Québec à Montréal. Ayant déjà fait des études en cinéma, elle s’intéresse et se spécialise principalement en vidéo. Dans son travail, elle se questionne sur les traces que l’on laisse, les erreurs que l’on fait, les notes que l’on prend et les objets que l’on garde. Récemment, elle s’intéresse plus précisément aux espaces sonores environnants et aux discussions captées dans le réel. En se réapproprient des concepts clés du cinéma direct, l’artiste tente d’utiliser le son comme unique narrateur d’œuvres qui jumellent autofiction et documentaire. Rassemblant tous ces éléments sous les médiums de la vidéo d’animation 2D et de l’installation, elle fait des aller-retours entre des techniques analogiques et numériques. Dans cette optique, ses œuvres deviennent hybrides et bénéficient des atouts des deux procédés, tout en créant une ambiguïté pour le spectateur. À pieds joints entre pratique relationnelle et recherches formelles, l’artiste propose avec ses œuvres des animations chaleureuses et accessibles afin de transporter le public dans son imaginaire.
Nadya Aubrey a présenté des films au Festival Dérapage, au Festival d’arts numérique Lumifest de Longueuil, au Sommets du cinéma d’animation de Montréal, au Ottawa International Animation Festival , au Festival de Poésie de Montréal, ainsi qu’au Festival International de Films Fantasia.

Nadya Aubrey is a multidisciplinary artist from Canada, now residing in Montreal, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Visual and Media Arts at Université du Québec à Montréal. With previous studies in cinema, she is particularly interested and specializes in video. In her work, she explores the traces we leave, the mistakes we make, the notes we take, and the objects we keep. Recently, she has focused more specifically on surrounding soundscapes and recorded real-life discussions. By reappropriating key concepts from direct cinema, the artist seeks to use sound as the sole narrator in works that combine autofiction and documentary. Bringing together all these elements through the mediums of 2D animation and installation, she moves back and forth between analog and digital techniques. In this perspective, her works become hybrid, benefiting from the strengths of both processes while creating ambiguity for the viewer. With a foot in both relational practice and formal exploration, the artist offers warm and accessible animations with her works to transport the audience into her imagination.
Nadya Aubrey has presented films at the Dérapage Festival, the Lumifest Digital Arts Festival in Longueuil, the Sommets du cinéma d’animation in Montreal, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, the Festival de Poésie de Montréal and the Fantasia International Film Festival.
